Why can't you wear nail varnish during a c-section?

Anaesthatist needs to keep checking the colour of your nail beds to check that there is enough oxygen circulating in your blood supply. Nail varnish just makes this impossible, they also use a machine to check the oxygen but doesn't work with nail varnish. Why not treat yourself to a manicure once the baby arrives? Why can't you wear nail varnish during a c-section?
It's not only nail varnish, but many false nails too. It's because the anaesthetist has to keep checking the colour of your nails to make sure blood is circulating freely. They do this by pressing on the nail and counting how many seconds it takes for the nail to return to its normal pink colour. Nail varnish and false nails interfere with this. Even before i gave birth i had to remove the false nails from one hand just in case i needed an emergency c section. They actually tell you to remove nail varnish and false nails before any kind of surgery. Why can't you wear nail varnish during a c-section?
hi, cause they check Oxygen during any time of surgery to make sure your blood circulation is normal, and they do this by pressing on the fingernail and counting how many seconds it takes to turn back to normal. If you have nail polish on, they cant see and it can interfere with the thing they put on your finger also.Good luck
During surgical procedures, doctors check the color of your nails for oxygen deprivation. If your oxygen levels are low, your nails will turn blue. If the levels are normal, your nails will be pink. Polish covers the nail and doctors cannot see what is going on.
Because they check your capillary refill during any time of surgery to make sure your blood circulation is normal, to do this they press on your fingernail and count how many seconds it takes to turn back to normal. If you have nail polish on, they cant see.
Well, I'v never actually heard of that, but I assume it's because a c section is major surgery and everthing needs to be clean and sterile. It's for your protection, and your baby's.

ETA - Ah, of course the nail colour. I forgot about that one.

Not only c-section but during any surgery. That's because doctors have to keep checking your nail color , to see if you are loosing too much blood.
